Details

Materials & construction

The pumpkins are carved from maple and lime wood, finished with non-toxic, water-based color, and polished with beeswax and carnauba for a soft sheen. Each is a single solid piece, with no small parts to come loose.

Bumbu hand-carves and hand-paints its toys in Romania. Because each piece is worked by hand, the grain and the exact color vary slightly from one to the next. The wood keeps its natural texture, so light marks and color variation are normal.

Care & storage

Wipe clean with a dry or barely damp cloth. Do not soak, submerge, or put it in the dishwasher, as standing water can lift the paint and raise the grain. Stored in a box away from direct heat and damp, the set keeps for many seasons; if the surface ever looks dry, a little beeswax polish brings the color back.
