A real little kitchen, sized for serious cooking. The oven door opens, the enamel sink waits for a wash-up, and two hotplates are ready for the morning eggs. Pots go on, dishes come off, and a child runs the whole operation from counter height.

There is a shelf below for stashing the pots and pans and a side dispenser with a paper roll for the inevitable spills. It is the kind of toy a child cooks at every day, then sets the table and does it all again.

Why it lasts.

Drewart builds this in solid alder with rounded corners and a natural linseed-oil finish, no varnish. It arrives fully assembled and built to be leaned on, opened, and cooked at daily for years. Each kitchen is hand-shaped, so the grain and finish vary slightly, and small imperfections in the enamel sink are part of how a handmade piece looks. When your child grows taller, a matching base lifts the whole kitchen to keep it at the right height.

Who it's for

For the parent
At home it becomes the busiest corner of the playroom. Your child cooks, washes up, opens the oven, and serves you breakfast you are absolutely expected to eat. It is heirloom-solid, fully assembled out of the box, and roomy enough for two cooks at once. The lower shelf keeps the play food corralled instead of underfoot.
For the educator
In the classroom it anchors a home corner or dramatic-play kitchen where children cook, sequence a meal, tidy up, and narrate the whole routine together. The opening oven, sink basin, and storage shelf invite sorting, role-play, and real cooperation. It is solidly built for a room full of busy hands.
For the gift-giver
This is the showpiece gift, the one that gets set up in the living room and played with that same afternoon. Solid wood, a real enamel sink, an oven that opens, and nothing to assemble. It suits the family that wants one beautiful, lasting kitchen instead of a plastic one destined for the curb.

Ways to play.

Fire up the hotplates, crack the eggs, and get breakfast going. Open the oven to check the bread, wash the dishes in the sink, then stash the pots on the shelf below. Take an order, plate it up, and serve it, then clear the table and start the next meal. The kitchen runs all day on nothing but imagination.

Details

Materials & construction

The Drewart Kitchen is made from solid alder, a close-grained European hardwood, with rounded corners and a natural linseed-oil finish. A few elements are finished with non-toxic acrylate paint, and the sink is enamel, where small imperfections are normal on a handmade piece. The wood is left unvarnished, so it keeps its natural grain and can be re-oiled over the years.

Drewart has worked in wood for more than forty years, crafting its toys in Poland. Every piece is hand-shaped, so the grain, knots, and finish vary slightly from one to the next. Drewart toys are CE marked, tested to the European toy safety standard EN 71, and made from FSC-certified wood from responsibly managed forests.

Care & storage

Wipe clean with a dry or barely damp cloth, then dry it right away. Do not soak the wood or leave it sitting in water, since standing moisture can raise the grain or loosen a joint over time. If the wood ever looks dry or pale, rub in a little food-safe oil, such as linseed or a board oil, and buff off the excess. Store it somewhere dry and out of direct sun or a hot radiator, which can fade or crack natural wood. Small marks and a softening patina are normal on an oiled, unvarnished toy and are part of how it ages.
