Needle Felting Station

The two things a felting needle needs to work: a firm pad to sink into, and the needles themselves. Sold together because neither is any use alone. A needle used without a pad snaps on the table; a pad on its own is a coaster.

The pad is open-cell charcoal foam, six inches square and an inch and a half thick, firm enough that the needle passes through without tearing the surface apart. Softer craft foam and kitchen sponges break down fast and leave crumbs in the work. The needles are 38 gauge triangular, the general-purpose size, the same needle Woolpets puts in every one of their kits.

One station per child, or one per pair working turn about. Needles are consumable and they do break; order spares against the year, not against the week.
