Why it lasts.

Solid maple, hand-painted. The pale blue sits over the grain rather than covering it, so the wood still reads through the color. At three quarters of an inch thick she stands unsupported on a shelf or a table, with no separate base to lose.

Who it's for

For the parent
It suits a family that wants one winter figure with presence rather than a set of matching ones.
For the educator
She anchors a seasonal storytelling shelf, and her height makes her easy for children to find and reach for first.
For the gift-giver
It makes a memorable gift that is not spent by December 26, because she reads as winter rather than as Christmas.

Ways to play.

She is the figure the rest of the scene arranges itself around. Children give her a court, a throne, a winter that she is responsible for. Because she has no story attached to her, they have to decide who she is before they can use her, and that decision tends to change every time the set comes out.

Details

Materials & construction

Maple, hand-painted where it is colored and left bare where it is not. The paint is worked into the surface rather than sitting on top of it, so handling wears it slowly.

Care & storage

Wipe with a dry or barely damp cloth. Keep it out of standing water and away from direct heat, which can open the grain over time.
