This hand-felted ladybug is made at the scale of the garden scenes this whole collection was built around. Its spots are tiny beads stitched on by hand, with small beads for the eyes, so the detail rewards a close look. Set it on the cap of a mushroom, the edge of a lily pad, or a leaf at the base of a fairy door. It is small enough to place with a fingertip and deliberate enough to rearrange when the story changes. It is the piece a child places once and does not move for days.

Why it lasts.

We carry this because every felt garden scene needs a ladybug, and this one is made with the same care as the larger pieces in the collection.

Who it's for

For the parent
A single felt ladybug, scaled for small-world play. Safe for young hands; sized to pair with felt mushrooms, homes, and garden playscapes. A small and affordable way to add life to an existing scene.
For the educator
It works on a nature table or in a small-world scene, small and lifelike enough that children treat it as the real thing. Bought in twos and threes, the ladybugs also make natural counters for early number work.
For the gift-giver
Some of the best gifts are small, and this is one of them: easy to walk past in a shop, genuinely loved when it turns up in a parcel. It is lovely on its own and even better tucked in beside a mushroom hideaway, a felt garden, or the felt bees.

Details

Materials & construction

Each piece is made from 100% natural sheep's wool, sourced directly from Australia and New Zealand for its quality and purity. The wool is tested to the CE standard and colored with non-toxic, child-safe dyes. No synthetic binders, adhesives, plastics, or formaldehydes are used at any stage. The fibers are bound entirely through hand-felting: layers of wool pressed in warm, soapy water until the natural barbs lock permanently into a dense, resilient sheet. Every finished piece is hand-sewn without molds or machines.

Himalayan Felt Co. was founded by Lobsang and Miranda, who began traveling to Nepal to import felt and eventually opened their own dedicated factory there. Every piece is made by local Nepalese women, employed directly by the company: taught traditional felt-making skills, given a safe and family-friendly place to work, and paid a fair wage. Himalayan Felt Co. toys are CE marked and tested to the European toy safety standard, EN71. Because every piece is made by hand, slight variation in shape and color is natural and expected.

Ways to play

Set it on a leaf, a mushroom cap, or a felt flower and let it become part of the scene. Counting its spots is a small game in itself. Pair it with the Felt Bees for a whole garden of insects, or tuck it inside a mushroom hideaway when the day is done. It is the kind of small piece a child picks up and carries from one scene to the next.

Care & storage

Spot clean with a lightly damp cloth and a drop of mild soap. Do not submerge in water, machine wash, or wring: the hand-felted fibers will shrink and lose their shape permanently if saturated. Air dry flat, away from direct heat and sunlight. Store in a dry place. Natural dyes may mellow gently over years of use; this is a characteristic of the material, not a defect.
