A wooden tree with a bright-eyed squirrel tucked into its branches, a whole little woodland scene that fits together piece by piece.

It is shaped and finished by hand so no two come out quite alike, the spread of the branches and the squirrel's curling tail grooved into the wood rather than painted on.

The pieces are solid and satisfying to lift apart and fit back together, and the little squirrel can dash off on its own.

Materials & construction

This piece is shaped and finished entirely by hand in a small family workshop, so the natural grain is left to show and no two are exactly alike. It is made from solid wood, sealed with pure linseed oil and beeswax, with no paint and no varnish.

The finishes are non-toxic and child-safe. The wood and finishes used across the line are certified to the European toy safety standard EN 71-3, which limits the migration of heavy metals if a toy is mouthed, chewed, or swallowed.

The shape is kept simple and open-ended in the Montessori and Waldorf tradition, made to leave room for a child's imagination rather than direct it.

Care & storage

Wipe clean with a dry cloth, or one that is barely damp. Never soak or submerge it in water, and do not leave it wet. Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from heat to protect the wood and the linseed oil finish. If the surface feels dry over time, sand lightly with fine sandpaper and rub in a little pure linseed oil (raw, not boiled) or beeswax to bring the finish back. Store indoors somewhere dry.
