Lift the hammer, line a ball up over the opening and knock it through. It drops, catches the first ramp and clatters down the rainbow track to the tray at the bottom. Then your child fishes it out and does the whole thing again.

From three, when a child can aim a hammer with enough control to enjoy landing the hit rather than just swinging at it.

Why it lasts.

We carry Q Toys at My Toy Wagon because they finish wood to be felt rather than sealed smooth, and because they make under a Fair Trade scheme in Vietnam with a zero-waste principle behind the material choices.

Who it's for

For the parent
It gives the banging phase somewhere to go, and the ball rolling the full length of the tower is a result your child can watch end to end.
For the educator
It sits well in a motor-skills corner, where the aim required makes the hit worth practising and the track makes the outcome visible.
For the gift-giver
It is the rare toy a three year old is allowed to hit as hard as they like, which is most of its appeal.

Ways to play.

Pound the balls through and watch them find the bottom. Count them down as they go. Race two balls and see which lands first. Turn the tower so the ramps run the other way and the path changes.

Great, solid product

I had to watch a video to make sure it took a few times for the balls to be pounded to make them go down the hole, and it is supposed to be kind of difficult. That’s good to know. It came in a very timely manner!

Details

Materials & construction

Plantation rubberwood, sanded and finished so the grain stays palpable under a hand rather than sealed smooth. Q Toys use only water-based paints and sealants with food-grade colours, or natural coconut oil.

Made in Vietnam under a Fair Trade scheme. Q Toys work to a zero-waste principle and also make from the industrial byproducts of coconut and lychee trees.

Age & safety

Safety

Tested to ASTM F963, the US toy safety standard. Recommended for ages 3 and up. The three wooden balls are 48 mm, 1.89 in, in diameter, above the 1.75 in federal small-ball threshold.

Care & storage

Wipe with a dry cloth, or one barely damp. Do not soak, and keep it out of direct sun so the colours hold. The balls live in the tray at the base when play is finished.
