Why it lasts.

Solid maple, hand-painted. At 3.1 inches he is one of the two smallest standing figures, which is the point of him, because scale is what makes a scene read.

Who it's for

For the parent
It suits a family adding to a set rather than starting one.
For the educator
He gives a December shelf a small figure to contrast against the tall ones, which is what makes children talk about size.
For the gift-giver
It makes a good second gift alongside a larger piece.

Ways to play.

He is the one who does things. Children give him jobs, send him between the house and the tree, and use him as the small one against Santa and the princess. A set with only large figures has no sense of size until something little is put next to them.

Wipe with a dry or barely damp cloth. Keep it out of standing water and away from direct heat, which can open the grain over time.
