The Fairy Streamlet is a hand-felted world in miniature. A stream winds through; spotted toadstools dot the landscape; a toadstool fairy house anchors the scene; a tiny log bridge crosses the water; a secret cave hides beneath the mossy ground, waiting to be found.

Made from 100% pure New Zealand wool by skilled artisans in Nepal, the felt is beautifully thick, soft, and strong. Built for the long, wonder-filled days of play.

The world is already there. The child supplies the story.

Age Recommendations

From age three through the early school years. Open-ended small-world play across the Pre-K to Grade 2 window.

Why it lasts.

We carry the Fairy Streamlet because the details are real. The log bridge crosses something; the cave is genuinely hidden; the toadstools have enough presence to seat a small figure. It is 100% New Zealand wool, thick and soft, made to last through years of play. The scale is right for small figures and small hands; nothing here is merely decorative.

Who it's for

For the parent
A small enchanted place your child leans over and disappears into: a fairy village one afternoon, a quiet hideaway the next.
For the educator
An open small-world ground for Pre-K to Grade 2 storytelling that builds narrative language and sequencing, with loose toadstools for early-math talk.
For the gift-giver
An heirloom-feeling gift, hand-felted from New Zealand wool, that a three-year-old sorts and a six-year-old runs stories across.

Materials & construction

Material: 100% New Zealand Wool

Dyes: Non-toxic, azo-free

Construction: Handcrafted by artisans in Nepal

Care: Spot-clean for daily use; hand-wash gently with wool wash if needed; lay flat to dry in shade

Ways to play

Small-world scene-building, story play, and hide-and-seek with figures and loose parts, on the floor or a play tray. Sits in the Gus + Mabel Busy Bee Tray, a sensory tray sold separately in three insert layouts: 2 half inserts, 4 quarter inserts, or 6 sixth inserts.

Skills it builds

Fine motor control, focus, spatial reasoning, and language through storytelling.
Care & storage
Wool is naturally self-cleaning, so most days a spot clean and fresh air is enough. For a deeper refresh, soak ten minutes in lukewarm water with a little wool wash or baby shampoo, rinse cool, press flat in a towel, and dry flat in the shade away from direct sun. Keep water temperatures consistent (lukewarm wash → cool rinse) so you don't shock the wool into shrinking.
