Fourteen hand-felted fruits and vegetables for market play, kitchen sorting, and learning to name what grows. Set A is built around color variation: two carrots in orange and purple, two capsicums in yellow and red, two mushrooms in white and brown, and an avocado that splits in two to reveal the seed inside. The remaining pieces add corn, radish, bean, strawberry, tomato, and eggplant. The splitting avocado is the detail children keep coming back to. Pairs with Set B, Set C, and Set D to build out the full produce range.

Suited to children aged three years and up.

Why it lasts.

We carry this range because fresh produce play is one of the areas where felt outperforms every other material. The colors stay true, the shapes are detailed enough to be immediately recognizable, and the avocado's reveal moment is genuinely exciting to small children every time. Sorting by color, naming each vegetable, building a market stall, running a kitchen, a single set of 14 pieces carries all of it.

Details

Materials & construction

Each piece is crafted from 100% New Zealand wool felt, sourced from GOTS-certified farms. The wool is colored with azo-free, non-toxic dyes and verified under OEKO-TEX Standard 100. Every component, including structural threads and dyes, is cleared of over 100 harmful substances. The finished pieces contain no plastic, no batteries, and no synthetic fill.

These pieces are made in Kathmandu, Nepal, by a cooperative of over 350 women artisans, the majority of whom are mothers. Each is shaped through traditional needle-felting and wet-felting, without molds or machines. The cooperative holds Fair Trade USA certification, ensuring fair wages and safe working conditions. Your purchase directly supports the economic independence of the women who made it.

Ways to play

Sort the color pairs into groups, open and close the avocado to reveal the seed, and use the full set to stock a play market or kitchen. Layer the produce into a basket for shopping play, name each vegetable and fruit, and arrange by color for a market display. Pairs with Sets B, C, and D to build out the full produce range.

Care & storage

Spot-clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not submerge or machine wash. Air dry flat. Store in a basket or market bag between sessions.
