Why it lasts.

Bumbu carves its landscape pieces from lime wood, a soft, even-grained timber that holds a clean rounded shape and a smooth painted surface. Each bush is hand-cut and hand-painted, so the silhouette and the green vary a little from one to the next. It is a single solid piece with no small detachable parts, which is what makes it a sturdy, knockabout prop for everyday floor play.

Materials & construction

The Small Bush is carved from a single piece of FSC-certified lime wood and finished with non-toxic, water-based paint. There are no joins or small parts to come loose; it is one solid, rounded form sized for small hands.

Bumbu hand-carves and hand-paints its toys in Romania. Because each piece is shaped and painted by hand, the exact green and the grain underneath it differ slightly from bush to bush. The wood is left with its natural texture, so light marks and tonal variation are normal and part of how a wooden toy ages.

Care & storage

Wipe clean with a dry or barely damp cloth. Do not soak, submerge, or put it in the dishwasher, as standing water can lift the paint and raise the grain. Kept away from direct heat and damp, it will stay good for years; if the surface ever looks dry, a little beeswax polish brings the color back.
