The Q Toys Toddler Perspex Easel is a sturdy and solid easel for your budding artist. It is the perfect height for toddlers and children to stand and create masterpieces over and over again. Handmade from sustainably sourced plantation timber, it also offers a smaller ecological footprint.

Why an easel?

As painter and arts educator Kate Mangold explains, “The point of an easel is to get a child standing up and moving their marks," i.e., the squiggles, lines, and dots they make with whatever drawing instrument or paint they’re using—and “to engage large motor skills like shoulder rotation and core strength.” Using an easel can help kids develop hand-eye coordination and “expressive language, as well as social-emotional and cognitive skills." 

Note: The acrylic pane comes with a adhesive that will need to be manually removed. The easiest way to do this without damage to the acrylic is by applying some heat, such as with a hairdryer. Instructions: Turn your hairdryer to high heat and hold it over the sticker for about 45 seconds. After 45 seconds of direct heat, test a corner of the sticker and see if it peels away easily. If it doesn’t, continue the hairdryer treatment for another 45 seconds or so, and then start peeling off the sticker. As it is a large sticker, you may need to break it up into smaller sections, heating and then pulling up the sticker as you go.  Here is an instructional video to help guide you on technique. Assembly is required and a drill will be needed.

Cleaning and maintenance: Use either wipes or paper towels dipped in soapy water. Do not use any cleaning spray as it may fog up your acrylic piece. Avoid getting any markers on the wood (as they will not come off easily) or having the paint/marker drip onto the wood.

Due to the natural timber and handmade nature of Q toys products, details, texture, and size may vary slightly.  In addition, some toys may give off a strong smell when opened; this is because the toys are packed once they have been coated with oils and the odor is retained in the package. This odor goes away after a few days. 

Please note that the easel may be slightly different from the pictures as some updates have been made during the manufacturing process. The logo, for example, has now been placed on the bottom of the perspex glass.
