Eight boxes, each a different color and each smaller than the last, with a round hole cut in two sides so small hands can get a grip. Stack them into a tower taller than the child, or put them away inside each other, which is its own puzzle.

Age Recommendations

4567

Q Toys rate these from four rather than younger, because the boxes are made in thicker stock for durability and are heavier than a typical nesting set.

Why it lasts.

We carry Q Toys at My Toy Wagon because they finish wood to be felt rather than sealed smooth, and because they make under a Fair Trade scheme in Vietnam with a zero-waste principle behind the material choices.

Who it's for

For the parent
It tidies itself. The boxes nest down into one, which is more than most sets of eight can say.
For the educator
Size differentiation, color matching and seriation in one set, sturdy enough for a classroom.
For the gift-giver
Eight pieces in rainbow colors makes an impression when it is opened, and it stays out on a shelf afterwards.

Ways to play.

Build the tower in order and watch it fall. Nest them all down into one. Hide something small under the right color. Sort other toys into them by color. Line them up smallest to largest.

Beautiful Boxes

I saw them on someone else's photos and fell in love. I waited till it was on sale and finally pulled the trigger. I am happy about it overall. The colors are vibrant and the boxes are so sturdy. The boxes are quite heavy though, even for me as an adult. So it's definitely not for a young child. I'm not sure when my child can start to play with them but they are a nice decoration and can look great on photos. I think the reason these are heavy is that the wood are thick. We have a set of Grimm's small nesting boxes. The wood are thin so they are light.

Impressive!

These are BIG and so beautiful. I love the hole and I know my son will too. It will be hard keeping these tucked away until the holidays!

Details

Materials & construction

Made from sustainable plywood, dyed with food-grade colors. Plywood rather than solid timber, which is what lets Q Toys build the boxes in thicker stock without the weight becoming unmanageable.

Designed in Australia and made in Vietnam under a Fair Trade scheme by Q Toys.

Age & safety

Safety

Tested to ASTM F963, the US toy safety standard. Rated by Q Toys from four years, because the boxes are heavier than a typical nesting set.

Care & storage

Wipe clean with a damp cloth only. Do not immerse in water. They store inside each other, so the set takes up one box of shelf space.
